“You are my hiding place and my shield — in Your word I hope.”
Psalms 119:114 TLV
A boy is standing in an open field. He looks in every direction and all he sees is tall yellow grass. He closes his eyes and feels the wind pass over him. Coolness comes over him, and he feels safe. He feels his breath come in and out. In and out. In and out. He is at peace in shalom. His eyes open and now there are figures in the distance. He notices that these figures are all around him. They consist of a dark shadow and shimmer in the light. The figures draw closer to him. He feels the wind again and feels a voice on him. “Remember, I am with you.” He looks up and words come to him. He begins to sing:
“This is how I fight my battles. This is how I fight my battles. This is how I fight my battles.”
Over and over again the boy chants these words. The figures are drawing closer, but his lips don’t shake. There is no fear in his voice. He keeps singing:
“It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You. It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You.”
The figures keep coming closer, and yet the boy doesn’t stop. His voice doesn’t raise. His demeanor doesn’t change. His look is that of peace and knowing that there is a shield around him. He keeps singing:
“This is how I fight my battles. This is how I fight my battles. This is how I fight my battles.”
The dark figures are now only an arm-lengths away, and then they stop. It is as if a giant shield had prevented them. They sneer at the boy and spit at him with disgust. He doesn’t waver. He breathes. In and out. In and out. In and out.
“It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You. It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You.”
The boy feels a power within him. A light within him that is coursing through his veins. He knows this is not his power but one given to him. He shouts!!!
“This is how I fight my battles. This is how I fight my battles. This is how I fight my battles. It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You. It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You.”
His voice rings out, and the dark figures shriek! They scream and moan as if someone is ripping apart their insides. The boy closes his eyes and thinks of the voice. He hears, “Open your eyes.” The boy looks up, and he sees the vast field surrounding him. The dark figures are gone. He feels the wind come across his body, and watches it wave through the tall grass. The boy smiles.
“This is how I fight my battles”

Jesus, I know that I am surrounded by enemies. They are pressing up against me. I am fearful. But You are with me. Tell me that I am brave. Tell me that I am strong. I need You with me today. I feel Your presence. I feel it all over me. This is how I fight my battles. It may look like I'm surrounded but I’m surrounded by You. Amen.
Be blessed and know that you are loved by YeHoVaH through Messiah Yeshua and the Ruach ha-Kodesh lives within you.
