“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! For behold, I proclaim Good News to you, which will be great joy to all the people. A Savior is born to you today in the city of David, who is Messiah the Lord. And the sign to you is this: You will find an infant wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.”

Luke 2:10–12 TLV

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” has become one of my favorite Christmas movies. I learned something really neat about the author, Charles M. Schulz. It was 1965 and Mr. Schulz had written his “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. He was having second thoughts and fears about this show. He wanted to talk about how the commercialism of Christmas was taking over the true meaning of what Christmas is all about, the birth of Jesus Christ. The network didn’t want any religion in it, but Charles didn’t want to cave into fear. So he expressed it in the episode with the character, Linus. Everywhere Linus went he carried a safety blanket. Everyone told him to get rid of it. His sister, Lucy, was especially persistent in Linus letting it go. But he held onto it tight. Then the famous scene happened. Charlie Brown is so confused and depressed about Christmas. He yelled, “Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about!?” Linus walks onto the stage, sets the lights on him, and in full boldness speaks scripture from Luke 2. And there is something very subtle yet important about this scene. When Linus says “Fear Not….” he drops his blanket! Charles was stating that he was letting go of his safety blanket and speaking the truth. It was what he believed he had to do!

This Christmas are you holding onto your safety blanket? Are you afraid of sharing the true meaning of Christmas to others? Remember the example of Linus and how he had to drop his safety blanket in order to speak truth. I pray that this Christmas you are too that bold.

Jesus, I proclaim Your name! “Go tell it on the mountains. Over the hills and everywhere!” Give me the courage to be bold and to let go of my safety blanket. In Jesus Name. Amen

Be blessed and know that you are loved by YeHoVaH through Messiah Yeshua and the Ruach ha-Kodesh lives within you.
